SEPTEMBER CATCH UP: ANNIVERSARIES, CAREER INTERVIEWS, COVID-19 AND PROMOTIONS!

In this September update from Caspian One we look at what’s been happening over the summer… with the latest career interview from Finance Director, Nicole Thompson (who celebrated her first year with us in August!), staff promotions, recent staff anniversaries and an update on our response to COVID-19.

Nicole joined us as Finance Director in August 2019. Since then Nicole has become a highly respected member of the team; critical to the rollout of new finance systems, a new timesheet platform, performance dashboards and so-much more. This September we interviewed Nicole, learning more about her background, achievements, and plans for Caspian One in the years ahead. She also talks to us about what it’s like first joining the company:

“I'm an introvert by nature, and everyone was larger than life. Still, quite quickly, it was easy to start building those relationships with people. That attitude of adaptability, wanting to help everyone else and to do a good job, is engrained into the business. As such, it really didn't take long for me to feel supported and believed in.

For me, I really didn't think that I'd be able to find that family, friendly, pleasant working environment again – but actually, I don't think that could be further from the truth. It's fun at Caspian One, we have many laughs, we do a lot of work, but it feels like a family which means you go that extra mile.

I couldn't be happier. I've felt challenged. I've felt supported, I've built some great relationships, and I wake up in the morning happy to work. ”

Promotions

Announced in our September company ‘kick off’ update event, we’re excited to confirm the North American promotion of Dominic Thornton.

‘Dom’ has progressed to Senior-level consultant on the back of his successes in the Montreal technology market, since joining us in March 2019. His primary focus is Java, working in partnership with a diverse collective of Montreal-based businesses to overcome their permanent and short-term/contract-based needs for developer skillsets.

Dominic Thornton - promoted to: Senior Recruitment Consultant

Caspian One has remained strong throughout this pandemic. We were fortunate to have business infrastructure and technology in-place early in the year, that quickly allowed us to work ‘as-normal’ from remote, home locations. Whilst we saw some markets impacted more than others (the Broadcast industry in-particular, where hiring nearly stopped entirely for a period) - we’ve remained in high demand; defining new projects, sourcing specialist candidates, developing new products/services, providing consultative guidance on topics like IR35… and building connections across our networks.

We’ve been proud to witness our team of consultants successfully adjust to the crisis, adapting their mindsets and going ‘above and beyond’ in their effort, attitude and activity levels. It’s this behaviour, alongside our predictive reporting, that has enabled us to ‘keep the doors open’ and even return to our offices this month.

While ‘what happens next’ still remains uncertain and a second wave beckons - we are confident in the strength of our people and will do all we can to support their lives, in and out of work. This includes for example: more flexibility on hours, new benefits that align with our consultants actual needs, changes to existing incentive programs and much more.
